Content Inside: A/V Rack: Recording Analog Camcorder Video with the DVD-R The Pioneer PRV-LX1 DVD-R allows you to record video as you would with a VCR. This document describes the process of creating the simplest DVD possible. It will not have a menu, nor will it have chapters aside from those which are created when you stop and restart recording (for instance when switching source tapes). You will need four things for this process: Your camcorder (preferably with power supply). Your tape(s) containing the source material. A blank DVD-R disc. An idea of the total running time of the material you wish to record on the DVD-R. Making the Connections 1. Plug in the Camcorder (there are power outlets on the front of the video rack on the left side). 1. Connect the Audio output from the Camcorder to the "UNBAL IN" jacks on the Audio Patch Bay a. You will find the cable you need hanging from the side of the video rack- it is a thick black cable with three RCA plugs on each side. b. The gold plugs are for video and will not be used. Instead we will use a separate video cable. c. One pair of red and white RCA plugs will need to be adapted to 1/4" plugs for the Audio Patch Bay. d. Find a pair of RCA to 1/4" adapters in the gray drawer located just above the power outlets in the video rack. e. On one side of the thick black cable, do the following: i. Connect an adapter to the white RCA plug and connect it to the Audio Patch Bay UNBAL IN LEFT (channel 1). ii. Connect an adapter to the red RCA plug and connect it to the Audio Patch Bay UNBAL IN RIGHT (channel 2). f. On the opposite side of the thick black cable, do the following: i. Connect the white RCA plug to the white (or left) audio output on the Camcorder. ii. Connect the red RCA plug to the red (or right) audio output on the Camcorder. 2. Patch the Audio from BAL OUT to SWITCH 16 IN through the Audio Patch Bay. a. BAL OUT uses channels 1 and 2 on the second row of the Audio Patch Bay b. SWITCH 16 IN uses channels 21 and 22 on the bottom row of the Audio Patch Bay c. Use a pair of Audio Patch Cables (gray with 1/4" connectors) which you will find hanging from the side of the video rack. d. Connect Left to Left, and Right to Right.
