Content Inside: PlayStation Support User Guide Router ConnectionDESCRIPTION If you want to connect your PlayStation®2 and your computer to the Internet at the same time, or you need to add your PlayStation®2 to your existing home network, here's how to do it. Equipment Required:·PlayStation®2 Console·Memory Card (8Mb)·Network Adaptor (Ethernet)·Network Access Disc·Three (3) straight through CAT5 network cables (or network cables recommended for use with your modem and router)·Ethernet-based cable or ADSL modem·Standard router·Computer with Network Interface Card (NIC)Step Explanation1. Turn off your PlayStation®2, cable or ADSL modem and router (if there's nopower button on your cable or ADSL modem then disconnect it from its power source).2. Take the first of your network cables, and locate a free out port on your cable orADSL modem (the port will probably say 'LAN' or have a number above or near it). If you can't find the port, check your modem's manual.) Push - but don't force - the network cable all the way into your cable or ADSL modem's out port until you hear a small click. The cable is then connected.3. Take the other end of the first network cable, and locate a free 'in' port on yourrouter (the port will probably say 'in' above or near it). Again, push - but do not force - the network cable all the way into your router's in port, until you hear a small click.4. Take the second of your straight through network cables, and locate a free outport on your router. Connect the cable as previously described.5. Take the other end of the second network cable, and push it all the way into thePlayStation®2's Network Adaptor out port until you hear a small click (the out port on the Network Adaptor is the only port available, so you can't get it wrong!).6. Take the third, and last, of your straight through network cables, and locateanother free out port on your router. Connect the cable as previously described.7. Take the third network cable, and push it all the way into the port on yourNetwork Interface Card until you hear a small click (there is only one port on a Network Interface Card, so you can't plug it into the wrong port).8. Switch on your cable or ADSL modem, then your router, then your computer (inthat order).9. Check that your computer can access the Internet through the router. You mayneed to configure the router using the router manufacturer's instructions. If your router cannot access the Internet, you may not be able to connect your PlayStation®2.
