Christopher Lester Hollis, 22, was arrested in Fresno after a traffic stop Fri- day night, Berkeley police Lt. Wesley Hes- ter said. Meleia Willis-Starbuck, 19, a Dart- mouth College student home for the sum- mer, was slain July 17 on a Berkeley street, moments after calling Hollis for help as she and some friends argued with a group of young men. The police said she told Hollis to "bring the heat" meaning bring a gun. Authorities believe that when Hollis arrived, he fired at the men from a car, unintentionally shooting Willis-Starbuck. The police said Hollis initially gave the Fresno police a false name when stopped at a suspected hit-and-run, but he was quickly identified and arrested. Hollis was held yesterday without bail on suspicion of murder, officials said. He is expected to appear in an Alameda County court this week. Christopher Larry Wilson Jr., 20, of Berkeley, is alleged to have been driving the car used in the shooting. He is charged with murder but remains free on bail. The Associated Press New Hampshire behind in women-owned businesses BEDFORD A trade group says New Hampshire lags behind other states in the percentage of women-owned busi- nesses.
