July 12, 2001 Subaru of America Donates Car to South Seattle Community College South Seattle Community College (SSCC) Automotive Technology students now have one more resource to practice their skills with the donation of a car by Subaru of America, Inc. Subaru donated a 1998 Forester pre-production model along with a complete set of service manuals. The car, which might have been otherwise scrapped, has now found a home at SSCC becoming an educational tool for tomorrow's automotive technicians. The car was handed over in a ceremony held at SSCC on July 6. Don Szramkowski, Technical Training Instructor at Subaru's Portland, Ore. Training Center, handed over the keys to Dr. David Mitchell, President of SSCC. In the past, Subaru has also donated a 1996 Outback and a car lift hoist. SSCC's Automotive Technology program is NATEF/ASE certified and offers an Associate of Applied Science degree, as well as a two-year certificate program. Shortterm specialty certificates are also offered in the engine repair, automatic transmissions, manual transmissions and transaxles, steering and suspension, brakes, electrical and electronics, heating and air conditioning, and engine performance. South Seattle Community College is located in West Seattle, has 7,500 students and is a member of the Seattle Community College District. Fall quarter begins September 24.
